TELS offers preparation training for people who want to make the Cambridge English & TOEFL Tests.
The Cambridge University prepared English tests are recognised world-wide and
are designed to indicate a person's current level of the four language skills of reading, speaking, writing and listening. There
are various levels of competency, for which you will receive a formal certificate on successfully passing the chosen test.
The levels follow the CEFR ratings and are designated as the KET (A2), PET (B1) FCE (B2) and CPE (C1). There
are other tests available for business and advanced English.
Full details can be viewed at the Cambridge English website along
with a current level assessment check, lots of practice exercises and simulated tests.
The TOEFL is an academic English language qualification acceptable to the authorities if you want to work or study in
certain English speaking countries, particularly the USA. It is a widely recognised qualification accepted
by academic institutions around the world that can be used to determine whether a non-native speaker's
standard of English is good enough, for example, to take a university degree course. It is also used by companies
doing international recruitment to ensure a non-native speaker's English is also adequate.
The tests for each skill last for approximately 90 minutes and are made consecutively. The whole test takes
a full day with a short ten-minute break halfway through.
